I know I will never get close to utilizing its full potential, so I am concerned there's no need to spend the extra money. But the Pro widened its lead on the Premiere Pro. Amazon currently has the 2023 14" MacBook Pro on sale for $1,749.99. On the Geekbench 5.4 overall performance test, the MateBook absolutely stormed ahead with a huge multi-core score of 11,142, rocketing past the average premium laptop (5,956). The MacBook Air M2 and MacBook Pro M2 were evenly matched in the PugetBench for Adobe CC Photoshop test. I am leaning towards the 15" now, but once I upgrade it to 16GB RAM/512GB SSD, I am at close to $1,600.00 before tax. With 8GB of unified memory, there is the MacBook Air with M1 (2020), MacBook Air with M2 (2022), 13 MacBook Pro with M2 (2022), 24 iMac with M1, and Mac mini. I initially decided to purchase the 13" M2 MBA, but the announcement of the 15" caused me to pause. I currently use a 12.9" M2 iPad Pro for most of my media consumption at home or while traveling, so I am unsure how much time I will spend on my MacBook gaming/watching movies. I also plan to do light photo/video editing primarily in Lightroom, Photoshop, and Rush. Besides, Apple last refreshed the MacBook Air in July 2022, while the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro were bumped to the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips in January 2023. All these M2 Air sales made me bite the bullet on Appleās education website + gift card promo. I will primarily use it for school-related tasks, and I plan to integrate it into my workflow at work. Of course, the MacBook Pro uses faster Apple silicon than the more mainstream-oriented MacBook Air. I sold my MacBook Pro a couple of years ago after graduating college and have now decided to return to school for my master's, so I am in the market for a new one. I am trying to decide between the 15" M2 MBA and the 14" M2 Pro MBP. I am in the market for my first Mac purchase in a few years, and I am slightly conflicted about which route to go.
